Fire Alarm Design at 195 Hudson Street - New York, NY
Edouard Engineering Consulting (EEC) provided design drawings for this Group R-2 residential
building. The building consists of an underground parking garage with existing carbon monoxide
detection system. The penthouse occupying the main 7th floor level and the mezzanine level has
a private fire alarm system. Due to the high-end nature of the occupants in the building, the
management requested the fire alarm system be design with the specification for a High-Rise
building. This included providing a one-way voice communication system between the fire
command center for use by the fire department personnel and the dwelling units.
The significant investigation and design features were:
• Building did not qualify as High-Rise Residential
• Tie existing tenant fire alarm systems to new building fire alarm system
• Tie carbon monoxide detection panel for underground garage to new fire alarm system
• Install intercom system in tenant spaces and corridors
